What To Expect With Field Boarding At Muddy Boot Farm
We offer field boarding for the areas around Loudoun County. All horses in our fields get checked on multiple times a day by either our live-in family members or by family members coming to work on the farm. We often times have other boarders there as well, so your horse will get plenty of socialization.
All fields have a run-in shed to protect them from the elements that come equipped with solar powered fans during the summer. In the winter, we blanket the horses to insure they can be comfortable. Fields have troughs (heated in the winter), as well as round-bales during the drier months. We also put on fly masks in the warmer months and can throw on a feed inhibitor to prevent them from over-indulging in grass if needed.
What Are The Benefits Of Field Boarding?
The two biggest benefits of field boarding are increased movement for the horse, as well as cheaper board for you. Horses that are young and high energy or older and suffer from stiffness are often times excellent candidates for field boarding, although many horses enjoy the freedom to run at all times of the day.
Field boarding is also a more economical option as they do not require as much handling or feed as stall boarded horses. This allows us to charge less to keep your horse.
